Crane Barge 4 increases services level in the port

The level of service in the port of Rotterdam got a boost with the delivery of the brand new “Crane Barge 4” to Maritime Logistics Company VAN ESCH-SSL.For onboard delivery of Ship Spares and Stores, Cranebarges have to be used, since the ISPS code came into effect.

On July 1, 2008, Van Esch International and Ship Spares Logistics merged and formed VAN ESCH-SSL, the largest maritime logistics service provider in the port of Rotterdam. Since that merger, the work of this company further expanded. The crane barges are an essential link in the logistics chain of ship parts. The new, ultramodern Crane Barge 4 therefore represents a valuable addition to the fleet.

The Crane Barge 4 was entirely built at Shipyard Jooren in Werkendam, the Netherlands. The ship measures 42 by 9 meter and has a capacity of 500 Mt. The hold of the barges can store upto 250 pallets and is equipped with a refrigerator / freezer for perishable goods.
The hydraulic crane has a load capacity of five tons in a range of 32 meters. T
he ship complies to the strictest environmental requirements.

Van Esch-SSL provides logistics services by road, water and air transport. The existing vessel “Crane Barge 1“ will now be active in Amsterdam, where  Van Esch-SSL has recently opened an office.

* The tightening of security companies in the Rotterdam port is linked to the introduction of the ISPS Code (International Ship and Port Facility Security), the security of ships and port facilities against terrorist attacks. The code was introduced after the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Van Esch-SSL is part of the group Burando Maritime Logistics. The other companies belonging to the group are: Burando Customs Services, EcoScrub Services, FenderCare Benelux and International Slop Disposal.
